Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2007 Chevy Silverado Towing a Prowler Lynx

Question:

I I just purchased a 19ft./ 4000lb. prowler Lynx. I have a 2007 2500 Silverado HD. The set up appeared very good vehicle and trailer uniform and even and I towed at 65 mph. for 30 minutes on a major hwy. with no sway at all, in breezy conditions. I am going to take it to Florida shortly. If your answer is that it would be beneficia, what system would you recommend? Thanks gvrw9200lbs- Siverado

Any time the trailer weighs more than 50 percent of the weight of the tow vehicle a weight distribution system is recommended. So in your case, yes I would recommend one for you.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well.

Typically tongue weight is 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight, so in your case your tongue weight would be between 400 and 600 lbs most likely.

So a system like part # RP66541 would be an excellent choice as it has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs.

I also attached an FAQ on WD systems for you to check out.
