Is the Tow Ready Vehicle to Vehicle Taillight Converter # 118158 Waterproof
Question:
I bought this converter to use in an adapter Im going to use between my 4 wire truck and a trailer designed for a motorcycle that has separate turn/brake lights. Because its an adapter that I may use on other vehicles I cant mount the 118158 in a permanent protected location. Is the converter waterproof? Thanks.

Trailer wiring harnesses such as the Tow Ready Vehicle to Vehicle Taillight Converter # 118158 and similar units are not waterproof and so are intended for installation in some type of protected environment. Often this is behind a tail light assembly on the tow vehicle.
If your application requires installation in an exposed area you will need to find a method to protect the harness from moisture and other potential hazards such as road debris. One item that may help you is a wiring junction box like Spectro # 38656. This box is weatherproof, includes rubber plugs for its openings and has built in mounting flanges.
