Recommended Cargo Carrier and Bike Adapter to Carry Two Bikes on Rear of Travel Trailer

Question:

I am looking for a folding, aluminum cargo rack for 2inch hitch, that can have a bike adapter to hold at least two bikes. This is to be used on 2inch hitch on a travel trailer. I saw the comment on suggestion not to use cc125 due to incompatibility of aluminum and steel. I like the benefits of a folding, aluminum rack, but need to sometimes haul bikes. Alternatively what would be next best thing to aluminum rack, for weight and resistance to rusting. Any suggestions.

I don't recommend using a folding carrier on the rear of a travel trailer, and here's why. Due to the stiffer suspension and the long rear overhang (distance between the rear axle and the back bumper) any accessory installed in a hitch at the rear of a travel trailer will be subjected to much more severe bouncing and jarring forces than would be experienced if the accessory were installed in a hitch on a passenger vehicle. The folding portion of the carrier is a likely failure point, which is why I recommend using a standard, non-folding carrier.

The Stromberg Carlson # CC-100 would be an excellent choice that would work great with the # CC-125 bike adapter hoops. It's only 12 lbs heavier than the Curt aluminum carrier you referenced. The carrier has a durable powder coated finish that can easily be touched up if necessary.

I've linked you to product description videos for the carrier and the adapter hoops.
