Weight Distribution Shank Recommendation for a Setup That Needs 5-1/2 inches of Drop
Question:
I have a 2007 F350 Crew Cab Short Bed with a 6inch lift with 35inch tires. On level ground the measurement from ground to the top of the tube opening on my 2inch receiver is 28.25 I have the Equalizer weight distribution square steel bars that slide into mini hitch receivers below the ball of the weight distributing hitch which runs to the L brackets on the camper. Hopefully I explained that with the right terminology. When I purchased my new camper on Friday 2008 Keystone Hornet 31RLDS, they gave me the blue ox BX88131 8inch receiver, which I found out is for motor home set up pulling a vehicle rated for 5000lbs capacity, and I am thankful nothing bad happened on my way home. Anyways, I am in need something to replace that part, I tried measuring the trailer as best as I could with my drive way being on a downward slant. So I measured the back frame rail and lowered the front of the camper until the front frame rail matched the rear frame measurement. From the ground to the top of the campers coupler is about 23 What would product will provide me with the maximum for an adjustable shank with in my weight rating needs of 7,800lbs dry weight, 940lbs tongue weight? Leaving room for error to give me more , and then raise it accordingly if need be. Hopefully I explained this well enough to describe what I needed.

Based on the two dimensions you listed it sounds like you need an adjustable weight distribution shank that can do a drop of 5-1/2 inches. The Reese Shank part # Rp63971 that you referenced can do up to 6-1/2 inches of drop which would be adequate.
For one that could do up to 9 inches of drop and would give you a little more adjustability if need you could get the Curt Shank part # C17124.
I attached an FAQ on picking the correct rise/drop ball mount for you to check out even though it sounds like you know what you are doing. I also attached a couple FAQ articles on WD systems.
