Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2012 Chevy Suburban 1500 2WD
Question:
I pull a travel trailer with my 2012 chevy suburban 1500 2 wheel drive. Travel trailer weighs about 5000 lbs. I am interested in the air lift 1000 bags. Would that be a good product choice or would you recommend something else. Thanks!!

You would be better off with a weight distribution system than suspension enhancement. Suspension enhancement like an air bag kit would help your tow vehicle sit more level while being towed, but the air bags would actually act as a fulcrum point which would lighten the front axle and affect braking and handling.
A weight distribution system actually will take some of the tongue weight of the trailer and transfer it to the front axle of the trailer. This will help you tow level as well as improve handling and braking.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow, this figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well.
Typically tongue weight is 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight, since your total trailer weight is 5,000 lbs you would most likely have a tongue weight range between 500 and 750 lbs.
The Strait Line Weight Distribution System part # RP66083 would be an excellent choice as it is designed to fit the tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs.
I attached an FAQ article on WD systems for you to check out as well.
