How Much Tongue Weight Should a Trailer Have and Should it Sit Level
Question:
Hello, I have a 32foot 21,600lb 3 axle adjustable trailer the axle slide under the frame I haul a 36foot 12.000 sailboat Right now it set up with the bow plum with the ball with 4foot rear over hang and 1400 / 1600lbs tongue weigh the front axle looks likes it has too much weight on it. by judging how warm the front axle tiers are compare to the rest. How should the boat sit and the axles be to keep the tongue weight. Thank you for your time

You want your trailer to sit as level as possible, and want the tongue weight of the trailer to be between 10 and 15 percent of the total weight of the trailer.
In order to get the trailer to sit level you will need to pick out a ball mount with the correct rise/drop. For more information on that check out the FAQ article I attached to the right that details how to accomplish this.
