Cover for a 40 Foot 2006 Salem Travel Trailer with Leaking Slide Out

Question:

I want a product to cover the trailer in winter. When the front slider is moved inside, the roof is not sealing correctly and leaks every winter. We do have an attached roof on the patio door side and Im concerned about attaching the tarp. Will this prevent the snow from melting into our trailer in the spring?

We do have covers specifically for trailers. A tarp might work but isn't designed for any one purpose. A better fit would be a cover made for a trailer. But if it is a travel trailer, we will not have any that are 40 feet long. I would need to know the model of your 2006 Salem to be sure though.

A tarp such as # EM57019 could work. It is certainly long enough at 40 feet. But would only hang down a few feet on each side since it is 20 feet wide. You would have to use straps and/or weights to keep the cover in place. And there is still a chance that snow or rain could get underneath it since the tarp does not cover as much as an actual trailer cover would.

Going with a large tarp, 60 x 40 foot model # EM57029 would be better.

Given the cost of large tarps and covers you might just want to have an RV dealer service center take a look at it to see if the issue can be fixed and at what cost.
