Replacement Fold-Down Gooseneck Hitch for 2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD
Question:
I have a 2001 gmc 2500hd with a fold down hitch already in it but it is wore out. Can you use the 8339 as a replacement hitch to the one I have? I have a atwood mobile products fold down gooseneck ball. It is 12x14

The Reese Fold Down Gooseneck Hitch and its install kit, part # 8339-4434 are indeed a fit for your 2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD. The plate itself is 12 x 14-1/2 inches, slightly wider than the hitch you currently have.
To install the hitch, you'd first need to completely remove your existing hitch and frame mounting rails. Since your existing frame rails haven't been tested with the Reese hitch, the weight capacity would be completely unknown if you tried to reuse them.
Since I don't know which Atwood hitch you have, I can't say if or to what degree you'll need to enlarge the size of the hole in your truck bed. I have linked you to the installation instructions, which show complete dimensions for the hole.
