Brake Controllers and Weight Distribution for a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer
Question:
We are first time travel trailer people. I have a 2004 Chevy Trailablazer with tow package and 4.2 liter I6. Tow 6000 lbs. We are looking at a travel trailer no more than 4800 bls. What do you recommend for a brake controller and a weight distribution system? Also, does sway control come on a weight distribution system or is it separate? thanks!

As long as your 2004 Chevy Trailblazer has factory installed 7-way wiring I recommend the Tekonsha PRODIGY Brake Controller P2 - Proportional # 90885.
I have included an image and a video that show installation procedures. The tow package wires are located beneath the steering column to the left of the brake pedal, and they are bundled with white tape.
For weight distribution there are products for sway control only, weight distribution only, or both sway control and weight distribution.
The best systems are those with both. I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Hitch 600 pound tongue weight / 12000 pound gross trailer weight # RP66072. This system is rated for tongue weights between 200 and 600 pounds. It is our best system because it is the only one that stops trailer sway before swaying starts.
