Fit of Thule OutWay 2 # TH45JV and Raceway 3 # TH56BV Trunk-Mount Racks on 2014 Acura MDX

Question:

Will Thule TH56BV 3 bike rack fit on Acura MDX 14? . I notice the TH56BV is not checked for Acura MDX 14 but 9001XT is. I wonder what is the difference between TH56BV and TH45JV besides TH56BV is for three bikes, and TH45JV is for two bikes. Shouldn't the fitting part that mount to the trunk is the same for both? If the th45jv fits Acura MDX 14, shouldn't the th56bv fit as well? Thanks for your help.

The Thule OutWay 2 # TH45JV trunk-mount bike rack is indeed a recommended fit for your 2014 Acura MDX. The similar OutWay 3 rack, part # TH56BV, will mount in the same way as you suggest but this larger carrier is not recommended for your vehicle due to the weight load placed on the car's sheet metal. The OutWay racks are built with heavy-duty materials to enable them to last a long time, but this also means higher weight. Thule's engineers consider that the weight of a loaded OutWay 3-bike trunk rack could distort or damage the vehicle's sheet metal.

Other bike rack manufacturers, Yakima and Hollywood Racks, do offer lighter-weight racks, including 3-bike units, that are considered suitable for your MDX. The link provided to the right will let you see all recommended 3-bike carriers suited to your MDX.
