Recommendation for Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack for 2015 Acura RDX to Carry Mountain Bikes

Question:

I am looking for a hitch-mounted bike back, lightweight, for 1 sometimes 2 mountain bikes. Im just about there on the Thule Helium Aero 2 bike TH9042. A few questions: 1 Is this fully compatible with a 2015 Acura RDX with 2 inch trailer hitch slot? 2 OK for 2 mtn bikes? 3 Any other rack I should consider? Many thanks.

Due to the size of the tires on your mountain bikes, you would be best served using a hanging bike rack. The Thule Helium Bike Rack, # TH9042PRO, which you reference, is a confirmed fit for your 2015 Acura RDX with a 2 inch receiver. With a weight capacity of 75 pounds it will easily carry two mountain bikes. The rack offers many great features such as a tilting feature, anti-sway cradles and an anti-rattle hitch bolt at an affordable price.

An even more economical option is the Thule 4 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches, # TH934XTR. It is a simple, entry level rack for Acura RDX owners.

With the Thule or Pro Series Eclipse bike racks you will need a bike adapter for your alternative frame bike. I suggest using the Thule Women and Alternative Frame Bike Adapter Bar, item # TH982XT, to hitch up your bike. The adapter bar would connect to the handlebar gooseneck and the seat post, and would provide a level attachment point to the bike rack.
