You will want to mount the controller in an accessible area like the under the dash on the driver's side. Mounting the brake controller in an accessible location on your 2002 Ford Excursion is necessary so that you will not only be able to view the display and easily access the vertical slide, but also so that if there is a situation where you need to apply the trailer brakes without pressing the truck brakes you can access the controller.
The Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller, # HM47294, can be mounted from negative 20 degrees nose down to positive 70 degrees nose up and parallel to the direction of the travel. I have included a picture that illustrates this.
For ease of wiring the brake controller on your 2002 Ford Excursion, use wiring adapter # HM47715.
