Can 5.30-12 Trailer Tires be Used in Place of 205/65-10 Trailer Tires

Question:

I have a flat deck dual axle utility trailer. The tires are located under the deck. Currently it has 20.5/8/10 tires on it. I need to replace all four tires and rims. I was looking at the 12/5.3 tires and wheels that you sell. What would be the difference in comparison with the two tires? I find that the 12inch tires are cheaper in price. Can you help me out with this decision? Thanks for everything.

The modern equivalent of a 20.5x8-10 tire is a 205/65-10. This size tire is 20-1/2 inches tall and 8.3 inches wide. A 5.30-12 tire is going to be taller at 21.9 inches tall but more narrow at 5.6 inches wide.

The 5.30-12 tires also have a lower capacity maxing out at 1,250 pounds for a load range D. Whereas a 205/65-10 tire maxes out at 1,650 pounds for a load range E.

If the capacity and height difference will still work with your trailer then you can go to the 5.30-12 tires and wheels. I have included a link to them for you. I have also included a couple of additional helpful links for you.
