What are the DOT Requirements for Trailer Breakaway Systems for Miltary Trailers
Question:
Can you provide a reference for finding the DOT requirement for electric / hydraulic breakaway systems. We are a military contractor and the Navy is requesting this information prior to our installation of your product on their trailers.

I can certainly help. You will want to look at DOT/FMCSA regulation 393.43, specifically paragraph (d). This regulation should have everything that you need for what the Navy requires.
In general, a breakaway system needs to be sufficient enough to apply the trailer brakes on fully for at least 15 minutes.
