2007 Hyundai Santa Fe Still Sags when Towing a Trailer When Using SumoSprings

Question:

I bought the CSS-1168R for the rear springs of my Hyundai Santa Fe 2007. From the installation videos it seems like once installed both ends meet each other and get interlocked. But in my installation the ends dont meet and there is a slight gap. Did I receive a wrong part or was there something wrong with my installation? Vehicle still sags significantly with the trailer attached.

On some vehicles the SumoSprings such as # CSS-1168R for your 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe will overlap. On other vehicles they will not. It the springs are large enough around they will not overlap and that is fine.

Regarding the sagging the best solution for sag caused by towing a trailer is weight distribution and not suspension enhancement. Both the tow vehicle itself and its trailer hitch have to be rated for weight distribution in order to use it though. Based on what I could find, your Santa Fe is not rated for weight distribution.

The next best thing would be suspension enhancement but the SumoSprings would not be the best option to stop the sag since they will still allow a certain amount of travel in the springs.

You would need something a little more robust such as the Firestone Coil-Rite springs, # F4170. When inflated to the right air pressure the bags will limit the travel of the suspension and reduce the sag. It may work with the SumoSprings but you might also have to remove them to install the air bags. I have included a link to a video showing installation for you.
