Why Does Pro Series Weight Distribution System part 49902 Say No Backing Up with This System

Question:

In the specs it states-Does Not Allow Backing Up Does this mean you cannot back up trailer with this installed? I am new at this. Thanks

The friction sway control unit # 83660 that is designed for some of the systems like # PS49582 you referenced is not designed for tight jack-knife like turning situations so Pro Series Recommends that you do not reverse your trailer with this portion of the system installed. It comes with easy to remove cotter pins that allow you to remove just that bar and then back up with the rest of the system engaged.

Also, in general you would also want to remove the spring bars of any WD system for extremely tight turns, but this is even more so true for setups that include friction sway control.

For more information on sway control and weight distributions systems check out the FAQ article I attached to the right.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow, this figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well.
