Recommendations For Carrying 4 Bikes On 2012 Hyundai Veloster

Question:

hi guys i just have a question about two products. i just got this product from you a hitch C11254 and now i want to buy a bike rack SA4414B and i want to know if it fits. i am not familiar with this things and the hitch that i got from u it says that it is 1 1/4inch and the bike rack says 2in do u guys have an adapter or another solution for me to be able to get this two products to work?

With a Class l hitch on your 2012 Hyundai Veloster, you are limited with the tongue weight capacity and any bike carrier you install in the hitch limits you to 2 bikes. You will want to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to make certain you do not exceed the vehicle's tongue weight capacity.

The Saris Freedom 4 Bike Platform Rack, part # SA4414B, is rated to be used with higher rated hitches and would not be a fit for your Veloster.

You will want to make sure any accessory you install on the hitch clears the rear of your vehicle. You can use a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of your rear bumper, making sure it extends below the hitch. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the straight edge and that is the clearance you need. I have attached a helpful article that explains how to measure for clearance.

I recommend the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Aluminum Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier, part # SH12G For your Veloster. This carrier can hold 2 bikes and has a tilting design, which allows access to the rear of the vehicle. This carrier also includes a cable lock for the bikes, and a lock that secures the carrier to the hitch. This hitch measures 13 inches from the center of the hitch pin to the closest part of the carrier when in down position, and 9 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the bike carrier when folded up. This carrier weighs approximately 32 lbs.

If you must carry 4 bikes at one time, I recommend using a roof rack to carry the two bikes you cannot carry on the hitch rack. The roof rack I recommend is Yakima's using parts # Y00425, # Y06180, # Y28TR, and # Y06127.

You will also want to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to make sure you do not exceed the roof weight capacity of your Veloster.
