Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2012 GMC Sierra Truck

Question:

I am looking to get a bike rack to haul two bikes. Would like the option of locking, and would like to keep price reasonably low. Vehicle: 2012 GMC Sierra Crew Bikes: Jamis Trail X1 and Jamis Citizen 1 Step Thru Would consider either hitch mount or truck bed mount. Have been looking at the Yakima Locking Bedheads and the Yakima Ridgeback 2. Only problem with Ridgeback and any other hitch mount is that Id additionally have to purchase the tubetops and handcuff to fit our bikes right and lock them. Is there a bike rack solution I am missing? These are our first bikes and I do not want to purchase the wrong thing.

I would go with a hitch mounted bike rack, this way your truck bed is free for other cargo and in case you ever want to transport your bikes with a different vehicle you would have the option to. Since you have alternative framed bike with step through frames I would go with a platform bike rack. For a great platform rack at a very reasonable price I would go with the Swagman XTC2 bike part # S64670. And then for a locking system to lock the bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle you would want the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable part # S64031.
