Hitch-Mount Bike Carrier Recommendation For 2013 Honda Civic Si Sedan

Question:

Hello, I am looking for a bike rack hitch for my Civic Si 2013 Sedan. Im looking for: Black Light preferably Easily able to take on and off the hitch Will be wanting to store the bike rack in my trunk occasionally The gap between the trunk and bike rack to be fairly small - little clearance 2 bike - so something that doesnt look too bulky Overall - If all accommodations cant be made, I want a bike rack that meets most of these expectations. Thank you

One of the lighter hitch-mounted hanging bike racks we offer I recommend is the Swagman Titan 2 Bike Rack, part # S63400. This rack weighs about 31 lbs and has a tilting feature which allows you access to the rear cargo area when the bike is unloaded. this also has a steel cable built-in to the mast of the carrier for securing the bikes to the carrier and to help deter thieves. This hitch measures 11-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the foot of the carrier.

I have attached a helpful article that explains how to measure to make sure you have enough clearance at the rear of your Civic for a hitch mounted carrier. You can use a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of the bumper and let it extend down below the hitch. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the straight edge. This is the distance you need for clearance.

If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the handlebar stem and the seat post and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing more ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar you can check out.
