Recommended Four Bike Rack to Carry Electric Townie and Kids Bikes

Question:

I just purchased an Electra townie and we are going camping. I need a bike rack that attaches to a hitch, and it needs to fit my townie and my kids bikes. So I need a 3 or 4 bike carrier. I have no idea if Ill have issues with my townie on just regular racks. Thanks for your help.

Given the number of bikes you're wanting to carry, I'd recommend the Thule Hitching Post Pro, part # TH934XTR would be a good economical choice. The bike rack can be used in 1-1/4 or 2 inch receivers, but would be limited to carrying two bikes in a Class I hitch. The Hitching Post Pro combines Thule quality and features like anti-sway cradles and an anti-rattle hitch pin. The rack has a weight capacity of 35 lbs per bike, which should accommodate your Townie with no problem. a locking hitch pin, part # THSTL2 and a cable lock # TH538XT are sold separately.

If you'll be transporting women's bikes or bikes with sharply-angled top tubes, you might also consider a frame adapter bar like part # 64005. The bar spans the distance between the handlebar gooseneck and the seat post, which provides a secondary attachment point for the bike rack. This allows the bike to be carried level, which maximizes ground clearance.

I'm assuming you vehicle has a hitch. If it doesn't, and you'd care to reply with the year, make and model of your vehicle, I'd be happy to make some suggestions for you.
