What Wire to Use for Brake Switch When Installing a Brake Controller in a 2000 Ford Ranger

what color wire is the dead side of the break switch i have 5 wires from back to front 2 green 1 clear /black 1 red 1 black what one do i connect the red break wire to from a pilot contoler

The best way I can help you determine which wire to install the brake switch wire of your brake controller to would be to use a circuit tester like our part # PTW2993 and test all of the wires you have found till you find one that only sees 12 volts when the brakes are applied. This would be the correct wire to use.

When we installed a brake controller on a similar Ranger as yours the correct wire to use was green. See the attached video around the 4:45 mark.
