P3 Trailer Brake Controller Will Not Power Up on a 2014 Toyota Sequoia
Question:
Just finished installing the P3 on my 2014 Toyota Sequoia with the the 3040-P Toyota harness. Since I have the tow package, I simply plugged it in per the instructions and got power right away so everything seemed fine. After I followed the rest of the install instructions including the ground wire, it will no longer power on. I removed the ground wire to see if I could get the unit to power on again but it wouldnt. Any suggestions

There may have been a short in the installation process that caused the fuse that powers the brake controller to blow. You will want to use the owner's manual for your 2014 Toyota Sequoia to locate the brake controller fuse and check it.
I would make that additional ground connection first and then plug everything in. If the controller still does not power on use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the black wire. If there is 12-volt power on that wire, then the controller is getting power, but the display must have a problem and the controller will need to be replaced.
There was an issue some time ago with the P3s and a batch that had bad displays, so it is possible that you have one. Tekonsha is excellent about getting that resolved if that turns out to be the problem.
