Is Fifth Wire Needed to Wire In a Brake Controller on a 2008 Ford F150

Question:

Hello, I have a 2008 Ford F150 with a 7 pin receiver connect at truck I have the factory wiring kit and relay. I am connecting it to a 2004 KZ Coyote travel trailer. My question is the brake control is from a Chevy 1500 . It has 4 wires , red, wire, blue, black, . My connector has a plug with 5 wires , the same 4 and an additional green, marked, stop lamp Where does that green get tied into on a Ford F 150? Thanks,

The green wire you mentioned is for an illumination circuit so that your brake lights would come on with the manual override of the brake controller is slid. This circuit is not needed. Just wire up the other four wires by color and you would be fine.

Typical brake controller wires are:

Black is 12 volt power
Blue is brake output (goes to the 7-way)
White is ground
Red is stoplight switch
