Does Freespool Mode on Superwinch LT 3000 Electric Winch Spool In and Out

When in freespool, will it roll both in and out?

Freespool mode indicates that hte clutch is not engaged so technically it should spool in and out. But there isn't a way to easily spool it back in as it does still take some effort to pull the line out due to the weight and friction of the wire rope and drum.
