Weight Distribution for a 2013 Toyota Tacoma Towing Trailer with 410 Pounds Dry Tongue Weight

Question:

Hello, Im looking at this package and wondering if its to much for my set up. The dry weight of my trailer is 4400lbs with a tongue weight of 410lbs. I havent received the trailer yet to do the weighing and math. But the max weight of the trailer is 6200lbs and Im sure Ill be under that.

If you load the trailer to the 6200 pound capacity then 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight would be 620 to 930 pounds and a 1,000 pound system would work well for you. But you mentioned that you are sure you will be under that. So I recommend a system that maxes out at 750 pounds tongue weight, # PS49582.

But keep in mind that when calculating tongue weight you will need to add the weight of anything carried behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle ot the trailer tongue weight. I have included a link to our help article on determining tongue weight and on weight distribution for you.
