Yes you can tow a fifth wheel trailer with your 2005 Ford F150 with a 5-1/2 foot bed. You will need 3 things. A rail install kit, a stationary hitch and a Sidewinder.
For a rail kit you will want the Reese Fifth Wheel Rail Install kit part # RP50081-58. This is a custom install kit that would install in about half the time as a universal kit and would minimize drilling.
For a hitch you would want a stationary hitch since you have to use a Sidewinder. For that the Reese fifth wheel hitch part # RP30047 would be an excellent choice. Check out the review video I attached.
You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have know in order to pick out the correct one.
There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.
If you cannot find the number you can use the measurements of the bolt holes of the pin box to determine which one you have. I attached an FAQ on how to do this for you to check out also.
Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
