Tire Pressure for Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire Load Range C
Question:
I upgraded the tires on my 1992 Fleetwood Coleman Destiny trailer from 5.70-8 load range B to 5.70-8 load range C. The weight of the trailer is about 1100 lbs fully loaded. I inflated the B range tire to 50Lbs. The tire pressure on the C tire says 75 lbs. should I inflate the tires to that pressure, or should I use something less, i.e. 60lbs? Im concerned that the C range tire inflated to 75lbs.would be a very harsh ride and the trailer would bounce around too much.

Trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire. This is because trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall to handle more vertical load. If the tire is under inflated that thicker sidewall will cause excessive heat build up and lead to tire failure.
If the trailer does bounce around a lot then the solution would be to weigh down the trailer more (up to but not exceeding the trailer capacity). The Load Range C tires you now have are rated for 910 pounds each for a total capacity of 1,820 pounds total for 2 tires. That is way more than the trailer weighs. Even the Load Range B tires, rated for 715 pounds each, 1,430 pounds total were higher than needed.
But this isn't a bad thing. Even though the tires do not increase the weight capacity of the trailer they will be tougher than lower rated tires.
