Higher Capacity Hitch for 2014 Nissan Altima to Accommodate Bike Rack and 2 Bikes
Question:
Noted that the hitch for the Nissan Altima is a class I 1 1/4inch receiver w/tongue wt of 200#. Trying to determine if we can get a hitch package to work with our bikes and rack. With hitch adapter to go from 1 1/4 to 2 reducing capacity to 100#, 49# NV rack, only 51 pounds capacity remains which doesnt work for our bikes. Is there a 2inch hitch for a 2014 Altima or a 1 1/4 w/greater tongue weight? Need 66 pound capacity to accommodate bikes.

The only hitches offered for the Altima are Class I with a 200 lb tongue weight capacity. Since using an adapter lowers the TW capacity to the point where you can't carry both bikes, your only alternative would be to use a Class I compatible bike rack to eliminate the need for the adapter.
I've linked you to our selection of Class I compatible platform-style bike racks. The Kuat NV 2.0 # NV12G is an excellent rack that's compatible with a Class I receiver. The rack can fold for storage or can fold back away from the vehicle with the bikes attached to provide easy access to the trunk of your Altima. The rack includes an integrated cable lock.
