The first thing you will want to do is measure to see how much clearance you have at the rear of your 2014 Toyota 4Runner. I have attached a helpful article that shows you how to take this measurement. The article says it is for bike racks but the same principal applies for hitch-mounted carriers.
I recommend the etrailer Cargo Carrier, part # e98874. This carrier fits 2 inch hitch receivers and measures 24 X 60, which is one of the largest cargo carriers we offer. This carrier has a shank rise of 2 inches, and when folded up measures 9-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier.
I also recommend the Cargo Carrier Light Kit, part # e98943-44LED. This is a must have option when the cargo in the carrier blocks the vehicle tail lights.
The cargo bag I recommend is the etrailer Cargo Bag, part # 988501. this cargo bag measures 59 inches long X 24 inches wide, and is 24 inches tall, and holds 20 cu ft of gear. I have attached a product review video for this cargo bag you can check out.
