Could ERS120D81 Ramp Door Spring Be Cut Down for Use on a 6 ft Wide Enclosed Trailer
Question:
Could the shaft be cut off and used on a 6 ft wide enclosed trailer? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The whole assembly (81 inches wide) can be trimmed down as short as 62 inches long, so it would work perfectly at 72 inches.. The spring has a capacity of 120 lbs.
We strongly recommend having a professional overhead door technician install the spring for you. The spring needs to be tensioned, and if it lets loose accidentally it would fling tools at high enough velocity to easily kill someone so it isn't a good job for a do-it-yourselfer.
