Are Trunk Mounted Bike Racks Available to Fit my 2013 Nissan Versa Sedan

Question:

I purchased two bikes yesterday from a local dealer, and was also looking into a rack for my vehicle. Unfortunately, your book that was at that dealer said there wasn't a compatible rack for my car 2013 Nissan Versa Sedan - not the hatchback, but your website does? Why does your product book and your website say two different things? I'd just like to ensure your rack doesn't damage my car. Thank you in advance!

I have attached a link to all of the truck mounted bike racks that have been confirmed to fit a 2013 Nissan Versa. You will just need to select the vehicle style to see the options that are available for your sedan.

As for the book at the local dealer, we do not have, make, or print any type of book that is sent to dealers. You may have been looking at an outdated book from a specific bike rack manufacturer. Regarding the information on our site, it has been directly obtained from the bike rack manufacturers. Each manufacturer test fits their rack on each vehicle to determine whether they will work or not.

I personally recommend going with the Yakima HangOut 3 Bike Rack, # Y02638, for your Versa. This bike rack has anti-sway cradles, folding arms and deluxe pads on the base to help protect the vehicle from scratches.

Here are a few tips that can considerably reduce the risk of damage to your vehicle when using a trunk mounted bike rack. 1) Make sure the surface of the rack and vehicle are clean and free of any debris. A good coat of quality car wax applied to the vehicles finish will also provide extra protection. 2) Installation instructions should be precisely followed. 3) Rack should be removed when not in use. 4) Rack weight capacity should be strictly adhered to.

If you are going to be carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend an adapter bar like part # 64005. This bar attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more evenly in the carrier while providing more ground clearance.
