Can Weight Distribution Be Used to Extend Vehicle Manufacturers Stated Tongue Weight Maximum
Question:
Im currently driving a 2006 Toyota 4-runner V-8 and the max tongue weight is 730 lbs. Is it true I can double that 730 lbs provided I install a weight distribution system? Thanks,

In some instances where the weight rating of the hitch is less than the tow or weight rating of the vehicle, a weight distribution system can be used to extend the weight rating of the hitch.
This being said, if the 730 lb maximum tongue weight rating is stated by Toyota, that rating has the final word. I cannot recommend anything that would contradict the vehicle manufacturer recommendations.
