Platform-Style Bike Rack Recommendation for an Electric Bike and a Mountain Bike
Question:
Looking for a light weight hitch mounted platform rack that will transport an electric bike weighing 53lbs. Will the Kurt Sherpa handle this bike along with a 35 lb mountain bike?

I have a few bike racks that will work for you, but the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 only has a maximum weight capacity of 40 lbs per bike. Instead, I recommend looking at the either the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack, # NV22G or the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack, # Y02443. These bike racks are for 2 inch trailer hitches only.
If you have a Class I or Class II trailer hitch, then you will want the Kuat NV 2.0 for 1-1/4 hitches, # NV12G or the Yakima HoldUp, # Y02445. Be sure to verify the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle to make sure it can support the weight of the bikes and bike rack.
These bike racks have a maximum weight capacity of 60 lbs per bike and would work great for your e bike and your mountain bike. They are a little heavier than the Sherpa, but the additional weight is needed to support heavier bikes. The NV bike racks are 42 lbs and the HoldUp bike racks are 49 lbs.
I have attached video reviews of each bike rack for you to check out and compare.
