How can I splice into reverse lamp wire on a 2008 Cadillac SRX? Lamp is in rear hatch door

Getting to the wiring for the reverse light if the reverse light is in a hatch such as on your 2008 Cadillac SRX can be challenging. But that wiring has to exit the hatch and go into the rest of the vehicle so you should be able to locate the wire at that point. This is normally at the top of the hatch. The wires will all be covered so you will have to cut a slit in the protective cover to access the wires. Then use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 to test the wires to find the reverse light wire.
The other way you could do it is to gain access to the reverse light assembly as if you were going to change the bulb (the owner's manual may be able to tell you how to do this or a tech at a Cadillac dealer should be able to point it out) and access the wire that way.
