Can a 2009 Ford F-350 4X4 Dually Pull a Three Car Hauler

Question:

Hello, I wanted to know if a 2009 Ford F-350 4X4 DRW Crew Cab 6.4L V-8 Diesel truck can pull a car hauler with three cars weighing approx 3450-4000lbs each. If so, what would be the best type of hitch and winch to use?

Your F350 Dually should be able to pull a 3 car hauler with no problem, but as a first step, you'd want to find the max towing capcity of the truck. You can do this by finding the GCWR (gross combined weight rating) on the sticker located on the driver's side door jamb. This figure represents the maximum combined weight of the vehicle and trailer. If you subtract the fully loaded weight of the vehicle from the GCWR, the difference is the maximum trailer weight you can tow. You can use a scale at a local truck stop or supply yard to determine the weight of your truck.

The type of trailer you choose will depend mainly on your budget and the features you're looking for.

A three car hauler would typically use a gooseneck style hitch, like the B & W Turnover Ball, part # BWGNRK1108. For a winch, the Superwinch Husky # 2404A would be an excellent choice, it's 7800 lb rating is probably more than you'd ever need, but in some instances, overkill can be a good thing.
