Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo with 1-1/4 inch Hitch

Question:

will the bar be long enough to extend from under the Beetle VW 2001 Turbo pas the large fat back end of the car... without touching.. the fiberglass bumper of the VW Beetle.. enough length? Or does it require an extention. on the hitch 1 1/4inch U haul hitch for the car.

The Kuat Beta part # B202-114 has been known to have some fit issues on the 1-1/4 inch U-Haul hitches. Because of that I would not recommend it for you.

For a similar bike rack that would have no fit issues on your 2001 VW Beetle I would recommend the Swagman Titan 2 Bike Carrier # S63400. This rack has a distance of 14-1/2 inches from the center of it's hitch pin hole to the upright bar of the rack so it should have plenty of clearance to fit on your vehicle, but you could also measure from the pin hole of your hitch out to the furthest point out on your bumper to be certain.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Swagman Easy-Out Women's and Alternative Frame Bike Adapter # 64005 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
