Using a Bike Adapter Bar 982XT on a Thule Gateway Bike Rack and Haro Heartland Express Bike

Question:

I just got the Thule Gateway 2 9006XT trunk bike rack and the Thule Adapter Bar 982XT and am having a difficult time trying to mount my womens hybrid bike. My bike is a Haro Heartland Express bike. I cant seem to get the bike leveled even with the adapter bar. The bike sways and moves quite a bit and cannot sit firmly on the bike rack. Please help! Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Because the difference in height between the seat post and the handlebar gooseneck is so far on your Haro Heartland Express, you would not be able to get the bike perfectly level on a bike rack. That is ok though. It doesn't have to be perfectly level. If you can raise the seat it would help to keep the bike level.

As far as the swaying goes the Thule Gateway # TH9006XT does have anti-sway cradles to prevent that from happening. On a bike like yours you may need to face it the other way on the rack to get the best positioning for the anti-sway cradle. Once the anti-sway cradle is strapped around the bike frame the bike should only be able to move a little.
