Question:
Should the leg swing forward or to the rear of the trailor?

I am assuming you are asking about which direction the Fulton Jack part # FXPD15L should swivel when you are connected to a trailer and towing. If so, it doesn't matter. Which ever direction works best for you, I found that I always swiveled the jack so that the wheel or foot of the jack goes to the rear of the trailer.
Due to the position of the release lever for the jack, if it was on the driver side of the trailer it would be easier to go with the wheels towards the back of the trailer. And if the jack was on the passenger side it would be easier if the wheels went towards the tow vehicle.
