Troubleshooting Trailer Running Light Circuit Fuse Blowing with Trailer Connected 2005 Chevy Tahoe
Question:
Im towing a boat trailer, and I cant seem to get the running lights to work. All lights on my 2005 chevy Tahoe work, brake lights and turn signals work on the trailer, but the trailer keeps blowing the fuse for the running lights. This makes it difficult for me to tow after sun goes down because no one can see the trailer until I hit the brake or turn signal. What is causing this? ?? Thanks.

Sounds like the running light circuit is drawing more power than the trailer running light circuit of your 2005 Chevy Tahoe can handle. The best solution for this is to swap some(or all) of your running lights on your trailer for LEDs. LEDs draw a fraction of what an incandescent bulb draws.
I attached a page that has all of our LED trailer lights for you to check out.
There could also be a short on the running light circuit of your trailer. Start at the connector and clean/fix any corrosion on the inside or outside of the connector and work your way back to the lights looking for any cut or exposed wire that would cause the short.
I attached an FAQ article on trailer wiring for you to check out also.
