Cargo Carrying Options For 2014 Honda Odyssey Van

Question:

I have a 2014 Honda Odyssey and am in desperate need of some extra cargo space. I know there are a few out there that do not require a roof rack our van is not equipped with one. Will any roof top carriers work with the sliding doors? Im afraid to order online and it end up being a waste. Thanks for your help!

I spoke with my contact at Thule about your 2014 Honda Odyssey. With no side rails or crossbars on the roof they do have a few roof rack options that fit but you're requried to drill into the van. I've linked the selection for you.

If you have the raised side rails, I recommend the Thule Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401, 60" WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711520, as well as locks # TH450400. This kit mounts directly to the side rails and includes locks to secure the rack to your vehicle.

If you have the side rails and decide on a roof rack, you can take a couple of measurements to see what kind of cargo box will fit your roof and still allow you access to the rear hatch opening. You would measure the distance from where the hatch and roof meet forward to the center of the front crossbar. If you can move the crossbar on the side rails you can use that measurement to see which box will fit best for you. This is called 'Front Clearance'.

An example is the Thule Force XT, part # TH6358B. This box has a capacity of 18 cubic ft, and requires 51-1/8 inches front clearance, and a center-to-center crossbar spread between 23-5/8 and 35-1/2 inches.

I have attached links to a couple of videos and helpful articles you can check out.

If you do not have any rails on your Odyssey an option I recommend is a hitch like the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75270 for your Odyssey. This is a Class lll hitch and has a 2 inch receiver opening.

For a hitch mounted enclosed carrier I recommend the GearSpace # HGK819 Enclosed Cargo Carrier. This carrier has 34 cubic ft of cargo space
