The easiest way to find the correct sandwich adapter is to use the oil filter part number to find the engine thread size and outside gasket diameter. According to my research, your Kohler engine uses a 5205002-5 oil filter. I couldn't find the specs on that particular filter, but I managed to cross reference it to Fram's equivalent, PH3614. The PH3614 uses a 3/4-16 thread size and a 2.75 inch outside diameter gasket.

The # D15735 sandwich adapter kit you referenced is compatible with that thread size and gasket diameter, so it should work fine with your Kohler engine. Keep in mind that the adapter is 1-3/4 inches thick, which adds extra length to your oil filter. You'll want to ensure you have enough clearance so that you can remove the oil filter when needed.
