Installing Replacement Hub/Drum/Brake Assemblies on Shasta Camper With 10 x 1-1/2-Inch Brakes

Question:

I heed brakes on a Shasta camping trailer. I have Dexter 3500 lb axles with 5@4 1/2. I measured drums at 10inch with a brake lining of 1 1/2. Your Dexter brakes and drums show 10inch with a 2 1/4 brake shoe. Will these fit my spindles bearing are same number just that your brakes and drums are wider. Thanks.

Trailer brakes in the 10 x 1-1/2-inch size are typically welded in place on the axle and are no longer available. But if you have standard 4-bolt brake flanges on your trailer you can install wider 10 x 2-1/4-inch electric brakes along with matching hub/drum assemblies on your existing spindles as long as the bearing numbers match up to the bearings in place now.

The linked article will give you background as well as a table on typical component combinations.

Hello, I have a 1966 Roadrunner and would like to replace the whole system breaking system/wheel bearings. They are attached by the four bolts. Any recommendation is appreciated.David

I can definitely help but in order to recommend the right parts I'll need a little more information. Do you know what bearing numbers are used on your existing hubs? Can you tell me the axle capacity of the Roadrunner?
