How to Determine the Functions of Wire Colors on a 1997 Chevy C/K 3500 Series Pickup Truck
Question:
Hi, I have a 97 Chevy 1 ton Silverado dually with a Pollak 12-705 7 way trailer connector. There is no black wire and there is a yellow and lime green. I believe it is stock. There was a lot of corrosion on the connector so I have purchased a new 1. Problem is I dont know where to put the yellow and lime green wire and there is no black wire coming from the truck.

You are going to have to use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 if needed to determine the function of each of the wires in order to install the new connector. Manufacturers can use any color wire they want because there is no standard to follow. Black could be 12-volt power, but it is not always. And green could be right turn and brake lights, but not always. The only way to know for sure is to test the wires.
