Can the 2 Leaf Spring on my 1977 Boat Trailer be Replaced with the 3 Leaf Spring # WIF3

Question:

I have a broken 2 leaf spring on a 77 boat trailer would like to put on the 3 leaf spring WIF3 for 3000 lb axle rather than the SP-038275 for 2000 lb axle. Would that be wise? measurement for the broken spring are 31 and a half so thats the right size by my calc. My boat is an old 15 foot Bayliner and would like less bounce. I plan to replace both springs on each side.

Over time leaf springs will flatten making them a bit longer than their than their original length. You mentioned that the springs on your 77 boat trailer measure 31-1/2 inches so the 3-Leaf Slipper Spring, # SP-039275, measuring 30-1/4 inches would work as a replacement for your current 2 leaf springs.

Part # e29SR that you mentioned is a 2 leaf spring for 2,000 pound axles. Please keep in mind that although you will be increasing the weight capacity of the springs by upgrading to the 3 leaf, this will not increase the weight capacity of the trailer or the axles and will make for a rougher ride.
