Installing Prodigy Brake Controller in Motor Home Based on 2007 Ford E-450 Chassis
Question:
My brake controller is a 2005 model that was installed on my dodge truck of the same year for towing our trailer. We recently bought a 2007 bigfoot motorhome on a ford e450 chassis. I found what I think is the built in controller plug. I bought a 3035-P harness but when I plug it in nothing works. The controller doesnt lite up either as t does when in the dodge

Your first check is a look in the motor home's power distribution box within the engine compartment. It is possible that fuses required to activate the brake controller's 12V power feed are not in place. Look for any open fuse receptacles labelled trailer or tow and install the required value fuse(s). The harness you are using, part # 3035-P, is the correct one for the Ford E-series.
If the fuses are in place and you still have no power at your controller then I suggest you test the pins at the OEM brake controller connector under the dash (the OEM plug is located below and to the left of the steering column, near the emergency brake pedal, as shown in the photo in the linked article). With a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 check the pins on the connector; one should have +12V at all times (to power the controller); one should have a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed; the other two should not show voltage.
