Can a Derale Hyper-Cool Transmission Cooler Replace Factory Cooler on a 1998 Ford Explorer
Question:
I have a 98 Explorer with 5.0. I changed out the radiator that had a antifreeze leak. Works great but now no matter what I do I cannot get the lines that go from the transmission into the radiator to stop leaking. I have tried everything. Could I leave it disconnected and buy a trans cooler and hook those 2 lines directly into that? What would I need to go ahead and do this and what would I need to plug the 2 open transmission holes in the radiator.?? Thanks for your help

You could install the Derale Hyper-Cool transmission cooler # D15960 in place of the factory cooler on your 1998 Ford Explorer. You would have to plug the radiator where the current inlet and outlet locations are for the factory cooler.
You may want to replace the transmission lines because if they are wearing out that could be the source of the leak and you would have the same issue with the Derale cooler. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the cooler for you.
