Troubleshooting and Fuse Location for 12-Volt Trailer Feed on 2004 GMC Sierra

Question:

i have a 04 GMC Sierra truck. i want to use an afterrmarket adapter that fits into my 7 way RV plug which has a 12v cigerette lighter hole to plug in 12v accessories. the problem is that there is no 12v constant power at the truck receptacle. i was told that maybe GM didnt put a fuse in for that circut. is this true and what can i do solve the problem?

The fuse that protects this circuit is located in the power distribution box located under the hood. The box can be found on the drivers side inside fender. Once the cover is removed, you will find two threaded studs on the motor side of the box. The front post should have the 12-volt feed to the trailer connector installed on it. If it is not, the lead can be found between the distribution box and the cab or under the brake booster. Remove the tape bundling it, run the wire to the post, and install on post. Next to the post that is closest to the front of the vehicle, there should be a 40 amp fuse installed. Install fuse if missing, or replace if it is blown.
