Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for a 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed

Question:

Will this hitch fit a 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500HD extended cab 3 door with a 6.5 foot bed? My truck is the newer style for that era as it has pull handles and more rounded features. It is a 4x4 as well.

Draw-Tite gooseneck trailer hitch # 9465-34 fits a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed but is not listed for the 2000 model year. Typically the 3/4 and 1-ton models are a year behind as far as design compared to the 1/2 tons. If we go by that then a 2000 2500 should look more like a 1999 C/K series.

For a 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed you would need # 6300-4454. In 2000 I do not believe the 2500 models were called HDs. But you could actually have a 2001. The build date is likely a year behind the actual model year.

I looked at dozens of pictures for each year and they are very similar. To be absolutely sure on the model year and which hitch and install kit you need the best solution is to have a Chevy dealer look up the VIN number on the truck.
