Replacement Rack-and-Post Assembly for a Bulldog Rack-and-Gear Trailer Jack

Question:

I have a Bulldog trailer jack for a boat trailer. The boat is a 1997 model. The wheel bracket is bent and I am not sure which model of rack-and-post I should get. Do I get the BD018007, or the one above, or another one. I attached some pictures I took to this. Hope that helps.

The rack and post assembly that you will want for your Bulldog jack is part # BD018006. This is the replacement rack and post assembly for the Bulldog Rack-and-Gear Bolt On Jack, # BD169201, which is what you have on your trailer. I spoke with my contact at Bulldog and he said the design of the jacks has changed very little since 1997, so it will fit.

The rack and post assembly # BD018006, that you referenced would still fit, but has been discontinued. It was designed for the A-frame version of the Rack-and-Gear jack, # BD018155. The only difference between that assembly and the part you referenced is the steel wheel.

I have an older model Bulldog Rectangular bolt-on Rack and Gear Jack w/ 6" Poly Wheel on my 1982 Shore Lande'r Trailer, VIN # 1MDG1FKD6CJ151313. I disassembled the gearbox and crank assembly and found the pinion worm gear has worn (stripped) to the extent it will no longer engage the worm gear. My Gearbox and Crank Assembly is very similar to your current item #BD018189. The Rack and Post Assembly w/ Poly Wheel and Caster Bracket is similar to your current item # BD018308 (21" lift). The post is approx. 1-5/8" dia. and has an overall length of 20-13/16". The rack length is 18 5/16". Also, the caster mounting bracket is bent and rubbing on the outside dia. of the caster. My questions are 1) What is the availability of a replacement pinion worm gear for my gearbox? If so, what is the item cost? 2) Also, what is the availability of the caster bracket and spindle assy. (1.000"dia. x 2.250" lg. w/ .315" bsh. retainer groove) including retainer screw. 3) If the above bracket and spindle assembly isn't available, can I purchase the complete Poly Wheel and Caster Bracket Ay without the rack and post assembly. If so, what is the item cost? 4) Would my Rack and Post Ay. fit your Gearbox and Crank Ay., item # BD018189? Thanks in advance for your prompt response. Regards

Unfortunately the above-mentioned components won't work with your older Bulldog jack. I don't believe there are any replacement parts available any longer for what you have. Really your best option at this point is going to be a whole new jack assembly. The Rack-and-Gear # BD165411 should work really well.
