Question:

Q. Im looking to purchase a 2014, 1500 Ram truck Big Horn capable to tow 10200lbs according to the Ram trucks web site, Towing specs and capacities, but the dealer website says the truck towing capacity is 7200lbs, it is quite confusing, truck GVWR is 6950lbs. ok? Q. Can we safely haul a TT rated at 5700Lbs, 600lbs tongue w, trailer Gvwr is 7000lbs... thank you in advance for your help

Either way it sounds like your trailer would be below the capacity of your 2014 Ram 1500. From the research I did it looks like the max towing is 7,200-7,800 depending on the model. Since your trailer would be at most weighing 7,000 lbs you should be fine.

I would strongly recommend a weight distribution system though since your trailer will weigh more than half the weight of your tow vehicle.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow, this figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well.

Typically tongue weight is 10-15 percent of total trailer weight, so in your case it should be about 1000 lbs on the heavy end of that range when fully loaded. The Pro Series Weight Distribution System # PS49583 would work great since it has a tongue weight range of 750-1,000 lbs.

I attached an install video for this product for you to check out.
